I know this is probably slightly off topic.. but i felt itwas more general discussion stuff XD I was just wondering how you discovered anime for the first time. My story is this: When i was seven (til like 14 but not really relevant lol ) i played yugioh, and watched the tv show.. i thought it was amazing and i knew there was somethign different about the animation.. but then my mate said : its called anime.. i was like so this one must be one of th e best.. right?? he was like errrrr no.. and he showed me death note.. we watched 18 episodes in one night.. then i went off for a bit.. then i discovered el.. So yh.. i just wanna hear your guys stories.. see how different they are TY for reading

its creepy u posted this, i was gonna make it tomorrow with one my other topics  okie then my story is odd but here it is:basically i had little to do xD well in a way, i ws a bit bored and so i downloaded some mmorpg games and they was fun but everyone on the trade chat (global chat) was talking about this anime so i felt a bit left out wen my guild started. i was gonna check it out but bk then i didnt own the computer i used i shared it so i passed. after that years later i became as everyone does, obsessed with music so i searched these videos, and i was amazed by these anime ones i actually thought they was amazing (AMV's) so i wanted to learn how to do it, but the thing is say a sad song it would oviously be sad clips so i was so curious about these shows which suite songs well i decided i would try. well i started downloading deathnote but it was taking a while so i came accross a halerious video (i got it on my computer lol) of this pervet teacher wot somone made and it was so funny i downloaded the anime and watched it to see if it did relate which it did (azumanga daioh is its name xD) so after that i became obsessed xD my story in a nutshell xD the link to the game and the anime was i felt a bit lke everyone else watched em but me so later it motervated me to it more D: thats the short tale anyways as always its 4am and im tired xD  If Im Told Its White, I'll Says Its Black, If You Say You Like Me, I Will Say I Hate You...Im Happy But What Am I Saying? |

Now that I think it over, someone did show me Project A-Ko, but it was beyond my comprehension at that time. There may have been other Americanized cartoons I'm failing to remember as anime--some were pretty badly butchered.

I didnt directly buy the 1st anime i watched. Believe it or not but my parents rented Princess Monnenoke from Blockbuster and i watched it three times in a row when i was young. Its kinda hard to beleive my parents got me into anime, seeing how they know nothing about it or watch it at all. But that movie flipped the switch for me, been watchin animes ever since then.

ohh ive seen princess, i rented it out of my towns library.. it was amazing.. i may have to watch in again actually ANd i agree pokemon is much more a cartoon but it couls be considered that kind of anime that is for younger children.. cant remember what its called.. but the english dubs are pretty much just cartoons.. and also its sad that i know this but.. in the diamond and pearl series there is fan service.. the main female character wears like a princess suit to a pokeomon contest or somethign, and her rival.. a girl with short hair is dressed like a prince.... and lets just say a child may nto notice it but older fans see it as subtle yuri fan service XD |

one question im curious on... have u guys ever noticed how kiddie type animes are actually kinda "bad" for kids? i mean i seen loads were u still get perverts on them xD using pokemon for a example one the main people on it was a perv to the nurse wasnt he? xD and then i watched a kiddie type one i cnt remember its name but the teacher is a full on peado (its not even hidden) and although a kid may over look this its still there o.o has anyone else noticed how some animes can be like that? i mean i know loads made for kids with adult experiances (lets cal it that lol) If Im Told Its White, I'll Says Its Black, If You Say You Like Me, I Will Say I Hate You...Im Happy But What Am I Saying? |

Please dont mock me for this. When I was younger I absolutely loved gore. I loved seeing any sort of violence where people get cut up and stuff and I loved biology because I was so fascinated with bodies. People may be thinking that I am sick but inside everyone of there is also a little part if you were you are still violent and evil and will enjoy the same kind of thing. But before you get any thoughts about me I have to say that I am NOT a violent person that walks around a town with a knife and thinking as I walk past people that I am going to cut them, NO. I am actually a kind and generous person and I don't have things like pictures of dead people hanging around my room, just so you guys don't get any ideas. But any way I at one point realised that YouTube had not got just gory things but autopsies aswell. I watched them like I said because it is an interest as I like to know how things work. But after watching a few autopsy videos I read the comments and some people said "it's not as gory as I thought it would be" and then I read the next few words that changed my life......... "It's not as gory as elfen lied. that is gore." after I read that comment I dud not search to see what it was but I turned off the laptop and went to play games and over the course of months I forgot about it and then I remembered the comment months later but I could not remember the full name. Eventually I remembered it and I searched it saw the twitching arm on the floor and was hooked. But after episode 2 I did not care about the gore but I wanted to see more of the story and I finnished the anime on March 1st 2009. A month or two later I started reading the manga and after that the sing Lilium inspired mr to play piano. So I got elfin lied of an autopsy video comment. Please dont mock me or anything if the sort as everyone will have something to hide and not want to admit it and it takes great strength to gain the courage to admit such a thing about themselves which people will consider out of the ordinary.
