whats upp

28-04-2013 13:30
Ah, Lain, that would have been my second guss. The two protagonists look remarkably similar. Nothing to do with the fact that they are done by the same guy.

27-04-2013 18:36
It's Lain, but I can see why you would mistake her for Rakka. Like both of them.

Do I spy Haibane Renmei on this site??? (cough, cough) ElfKira (cough, cough). That's a good show.

Has Anime Effected Who You Are?
Momiji
i was wondering, has anime/manga effected you as a person? as to who you are or how you see things? or how you live ect these sorta things. also if you can think any reasons, why these changes might be?

i never really thought much on it but recently people pointed out i am more polite now days
so the other day i thought to myself to see and i made a short list:

Changes from watching/reading Anime/Manga

1) As said i am more poite. not that i was inpolite but now im not just saying thankyou for a bus ride or when purchasing items, i thank people for the slightest of things, i thank teachers who rant at me cause i know its for my own good. but im more kind in polite maners, i commonly say things like excuse me to get through crowds now instead silently sqeezing in and i just think it seems so much nice to hear well mannered people, as said i was never terrible but i sure as heck wasnt no angel. im also well mannored more and kinder and dont swear half as much (not that i ever swear to much xD.
Why?- well sinse watching anime i took a big interest in japanese culture to the extent i started learning there languages. i notice in most anime characters are well mannered and polite to even foes and i think i have picked up on it wanting to follow how they are

2) Cultured, i care more for other cultures and try to learn em... simple as xD
why? i notice again in most animes culture is a big role but its not only jap culture, they take it from the world

3) Reading more- i read more now, i was actually a teen who loved reading (weird i know Pfft) but only to the extent of a good book. i wouldnt read anything and was picky, i enjoyed msytery and fantasy but now i am addicted to light novels Grin i also love manga xD
why? anime are so good i wanted to try em and now im using to much money on em Pfft

4) Prefferance- (NO SPOILERS Grin) we have all seen sob stories in anime, wether its in clannad after story, Kanon, Air, Toradora, Ef A Tale Of two or what ever anime you have seen we have all had a nice good wheepy like story full with sadness or upsetting plots or teary ends, usually portaid to be that way of course, well i love them now, one time i wanted somthing fun and all but now i love a sad end as its so moving and makes it mean so much more, but this ectends aswell, i also love romance more now, i personaily never was to up on romance genre but nowadays i enjoy it thanks to anime Grin

5) Organized, i dunno why here but im more organzied, i feel puntuated more but i make charts nd graphs alot now. i have currently a excel document with all the animes i watched rated down with logs over which ones i want to buy, why i liked em, what made em good, how much i rate em, do i own em, have i downloaded some, do i have its soundtrack ect ect (its truly large) and i do this with lots, for visual novels are very simular, i got a big excel chart with em all rated in there catagories split into plots for ones like clannad and kanon with several plot lines to em and so fourth. i actually make these charts on alot but mainly anime so i feel i must of gained the movtivation from anime... dunno how it works but it has

there are more but i cnt think to well xD its getting late, i still got aniem to watch and college in a few hours... somewhere in there im meant to sleep... ye not gonna be a nice day lol so i will update later xD
how about you guys then? any weird habbits or somthing?

oh a 6th for me:
6) UGU!- i over use the words ugu and goa now xD ugu (used by ayu) is a word i use almost in every sentance Pfft anyone who played kanon VN will know ayu says it on average of every 1-2 sentances unlike the anime were she says it about 20 times tops. Goa, again used alot in the game is Air's misuzu's equal part of ayu, she over uses goa (in the game) and it makes me laugh, i like how she says things like "oh goa" instead "oh man" xD

nyways im off to bed xD think long and hard all xD night

personally i dont have such a big list.. and some of it isnt so good

yes watchin anime teaches you that theres no need to be a b***ar* to anyone, and i agree with you i believe i am better at controlling my temper nowadays...

however watching anime for the first time for me wasnt such a good thing.. the first anime i ever watched was elfen lied, and it changed my life.. i remember watching episode 11 and crying as much about teh fact that it was almost done a si was the actual story.. then i found myself very down and upset for some reason..i didnt really understand it at the tiem and mistook it to be depression, but what it was was a realisastion that if i could step into a world like the one that kaede lived in i would, even if it meant loosing everythign ive ever know.. because no matter how good life can be in my mind it just wouldnt be able to beat with such nice characters that dont know evil..

but once i was over that stage more or less it does make you stronger because it teaches you that nothing can ever be perfect and we just have to get on eith it because we dont have a choice..

so i dont regret watchign anime and i wll continue to do so for as long as i can Pfft

btw

sorry if that sounded really soppy xD

Anime/Manga, mainly anime has significantly affected me as a person. I don't know if I can see all the changes I've experienced since I've been watching real anime for almost 4 years. Lets see.

1. I'm hyper obssessed with all anime now and I have an extremely devoted loyalty and respect for the genre.

2. I got a huge respect for the Japanese culture as well as Chinese and Korean cultures. I grew interested in learning Japanese. I've learned Chinese at my school to get closer to the Japanese culture.

3. Anime inspired me to do the martial art Tae Kwon Do and I stuck with it for 4 years as well. I have my black belt thanks to anime mainly Naruto since it was the 1st anime I really started watching (excluding pokemon/yugioh)

4. I joined an anime club at my school and made several friends from there.

5. I love watching subtitles on all tv/movies not just in anime.

6. I like reading more. I feel like I can read better because I watched what went through the mind of many smart, skillful, and troubled anime characters and I have an easier time seeing what book characters are going through and thinking about.

7. I read manga because It's a book version of anime and mostly the original form of anime. I got some incentive from another friend who loves anime as much as I do.

7. I use Japanese words more often thanks to anime.

This is all I can think of.

from reading you twos posts it woould appear that respect of culture or interest in culture is a result of watching aniime.. or just general respect for people really

thats another thing that i found

I have a fairly specific instance in which anime helped me to grow as a person.

I have a friend who went through some tough times and didn't take it very well at all, he got incredibly depressed to the point of essentially acting like an entirely new person. It was very difficult for me to empathize with him in any sort of meaningful manner and I feel that was at least partially to blame for he and I not being as good of friends anymore. Anyways, while this was all going on is also when I started watching anime and the second series I watched was Neon Genesis Evangelion, and instantly I saw this friend of mine reflected in the character of Shinji Ikari. Through watching this series I was able to understand how he felt and why he was acting how he did, and while I may not always agree with him I can say that understanding him has been helpful in trying to be more supportive of him.

Not necessarily related to anime but still somewhat relevant to the topic at hand, I found that after reading the short story The Egg by Andy Weir I have a much easier time understanding why people do otherwise incomprehensible things. I`d recommend it highly for this reason.

I can see how anime can affect a person's life by what it demonstrates through it's story. Just watching anime gives you a perspective of another person's life and how they conduct themselves around them, all the "life lessons" they learn throughout their ordeal, it's those things that we tend to learn from.

When that happens, I suppose it's no surprise that we as viewers come to respect people around us because we realize we all have our own backstory, our own troubles and well, we seek to better ourselves by learning from other people's mistakes.

At least that's how I feel about it, but we all experience the same things differently, that's the beauty of it XD

It got me kind of interested in Japanese culture Smile.

But more importantly for me...
Anime was an escape for me when I first got into it, I didn't use it to escape problems in real life exactly but it offered a break if that makes sense, esspeccially since the first anime I got into was quite a happy and funny one.

Elfen Lied made me feel like there were people that weren't scum, when I basically was at times often feeling that everyone was, as strange as that sounds, it's because I thought it was realistic in how it depicted the nature of people, but how they're humanity still exists underneath the appearance. In fact I felt like they got it spot on. I had witnessed similar situations in a way, people being damaged mentally to act nothing like themselves, all because of discrimation and cruelty, it made me feel like atleast some people in the world were not as ignorant as I had thought, and genuinely understood things with an open mind.

That's mostly something of the past for me now though, how anime effects my life now, I guess would have to be that it's simply given me an interest where I needed one, you need more then one or two things or it gets repetative Pfft anime continues to give me something to do when I have nothing to do.

And what could be better?
People can be interested in a sport or whatever, but this is something from another culture.

Ha,

I only watch anime is because it's fun.
I would never act like those characters in anime!

It hasn't changed me at all:

1. I am not obsessed with anything that has to do with anime.

2. I have absolutely no interest in learning that language. I'd rather learn all
European languages than lear Japanese or Korean! I'm even thinking about
learning Russian.

3. So far as fighting goes, martial arts may be good at self defence and other
stuff. But I'm feeling more safe with a gun in my hands. And it's more fun!

4. And for respect for the culture, I have a LOT of respect for the people, be
sure of that. But if it's about culture there's a giant crack in the ground that is
deviding us up.

Still, I love watching anime and I don't care what people think of it. But I won't
change anything about myself becouse I started watching some cartoons!
People who got nicer and care more about others now, good for you. And the
ones that hadn't changed at all, bless you for not being infected!

Anime has very much so affected my life. Currently i am trying to become a Manga Artist. I m not the best yet, but im working on it. Hopefully after im out of college Ill have saved up enough money to move to Japan(preferablly kamakura) and begin my manga series there. Wish me luck!
